Rosé gets its name as a result of its reddish color. Although wine grapes produce a nearly clear liquid, the wine gets its color from the skin of the grapes. This process is how red wine gets its color too, but making rosé involves removing the skins after a couple days of contact rather than leaving them in the wine throughout fermentation.
