The family owned Castello di Brolio in the heart of the Chianti Classico production zone, is one of the world's oldest wineries. The noble, illustrious Ricasoli family has cultivated vineyards in Tuscany, since 1141. The Ricasoli barons made?history for several centuries. However, their political power is a thing of the past. Today, the family devotes all its energy to producing quality wines. Francesco Ricasoli has managed the Castello di Brolio since the early 90's. This rural domain located at the edge of the commune of Gaiole occupies an area of 1200 hectares, of which 250 are planted with vines and 150 dedicated solely to growing sangiovese grapes. The rest is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Canaiolo Nero, Chardonnay, Malvasia del Chianti and Merlot grapes.
