Garnet red, with well-orchestrated wood that is worked into the ripe, sweet fruit and layered complexity. Pairs well with red meat or game dishes. 100% Sangiovese. Intense ruby with garnet hues, this wine has a classic bouquet of blueberries and plums that evolves into iris and violets with aging. On the palate, the wine is full, lush, elegant, and fruity with complex, layered notes of ripe fruit and a very long finish.
A beautiful example of this ancient style, the Vino Nobile is a top Sangiovese-based wine from the beautiful Tuscan town of Montepulciano (not to be confused with wines made from the unrelated Montepulciano grape, like those in Abruzzo). The special clone of Sangiovese is the same as the famous 'Brunello' wines from another nearby town, so like Brunello di Montalcino this offers a beautiful balance of delicate red and black fruits with spice, leather and savoury nuances. Sandy soils in elevated hillside vineyards offer superb fruit that is manually harvested and fermented with indigenous yeast to produce a proper, classical yet gorgeously approachable Vino Nobile.
