This is all hand-picked estate fruit presenting an intensity and spiciness with a haunting perfume of gooseberry and lemon grass layered over a mineral rich creamy palate. More tropical than grassy with great fruit tones and loads of body. It is also expected to age well!
Sauvignon Blanc is arguably our least known wine but surprises us by being our most successful label in terms of volume sales; and is certainly South Africa’s best performing white wine. Our geographic location, lying within five kilometres of the cool Atlantic Ocean, offers the most ideal temperature zone of the Cape. Added to this, the heavy shale clay soil that typifies the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley lends an inviting tropical tone to the flavour profile of this vintage.
TASTING NOTES Mature vines offer richness of fruits, which extend to bolder wines, as evident in this 2013 vintage. Intense and spicy, with a haunting perfume of gooseberry and lemon grass, layered over a mineral but creamy palate. More tropical than grassy, with great fruit tones and loads of body. It projects French rather than New World character with a small proportion of Semillon adding to its aging ability.
FOOD PAIRING Pairs beautifully with fish dishes, crustaceans, sushi, vegetarian cuisine and cheese.
