Attractive Bouquet of red and black fruit, lovely and fresh, clear cut and complex. Dense and round of the palate, it is powerful yet elegant and has a very creamy Texture. Already back in 1680 when Jean-Baptiste Braneyre acquired the estate, he understood how exceptional this wonderful terroir was, made up mainly of stones, called “graves”. in the Medoc, and located so near the very wide Gironde estuary. These soils are unique in their mineral make up and are the cornerstone of our wine’s special quality. Toghether with those of other prestigious neighbors they form the extraordinary little unit known around the world under the name of Saint-Julien. Their prestige was confirmed in 1855 when 61 chateaux were listed in the classification of Medoc Grands Crus and Branaire Ducru was one of them.
We feel it would be wrong just to rest on these laurels and not strive to strengthen the estate’s position by focussing on the quality of the fruit and wines produced here. Branaire-Ducru and Duluc de Branaire-Ducru, the second wine mainly made from the fruit of the estate’s young vines, are known by connoisseurs of great wines for their fundamental regularity and elegance. Its is in fact one of our team’s major goals to define more and more precisely over the yeras how the Branaire Ducru style is characterized.
