Here's another stunning Bordeaux value from the dynamite 2015 vintage. This one is from the famous right bank commune of St. Emilion. Chateau La Gueriniere is a small, family-owned estate of about 36 acres.
The vineyard spans the villages of Saint-Pey-d'Armens and Saint-Hippolyte. Vines average 30 years of age and are planted on sandy soil. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, fremetation takes place in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks.
The wine is then aged in concrete tanks instead of oak barrels to retain the bright flavors of the fruit from this remarkable vintage and allow the grapes to express themselves naturally.
The wine shows deep purple in color and red currants on the nose. On the palate there's a bold expression of blackberries, currants and tobacco with a mouthfeel that is both fleshy and silky. A super value!
