Weather is always such an important part of a vintage. It is said that the early ripenng of grapes this last vintage was brought on by three cold winters and then warm weather in August of 2014 which started early budding. Once thegrapes started ripening they all rushed in and farmer were picking up to 2 weeks ahead of previous years.
The 2013 conditions in the vineyards from which Delaire Graff draws its grapes produced crops of exceptional quality. The cool harvest period and the resultant slower ripening of the grapes resulted in bunches with smaller berries and with the higher skin to juice ratio the eventual wines had exceptional flavour and structure.
