A relatively restrained and attractively fresh nose offers up notes of earth, game and forest floor that add interest to the mix of red berry fruit. The supple, intense and beautifully precise flavors possess an unusually refined mouth feel due to the fine-grained tannins that also shape the firm, clean and agreeably dry finish. Lovely.
Soft wood sets off the markedly more floral and spice-infused nose of red and dark berries, earth and ever-so-mildly sauvage aromas. There is excellent volume and ample punch to the concentrated, serious and powerful middle weight plus flavors; indeed this is a big and robust wine that delivers first-rate complexity on the dusty and serious finale. Patience will definitely be required but this beauty should be well worth the wait.
