Good bright, deep red. Discreet nose hints at red fruits, cardamom and licorice, along with a slightly yeasty suggestion of reduction. Quite dry on the palate, conveying a less-ripe impression to its almost tart flavors of sourred cherry, ginger and fresh herbs. Finishes with very firm-edged, dusty tannins. This extremely backward wine will no doubt need a longer elevage.
A completely different nose is present here with its more floral aromas as well as more elegant red berry fruit scents. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension and detail to the lightly mineral-inflected flavors that exhibit a taut muscularity on the delicious, balanced and lingering finish. An understated effort.
