It is only Erni Loosens second year, the 2012er Erdener Prälat GG reserve. With this wine he devotes himself entirely to the past wine-making tradition of the Moselle. He wanted to create a Riesling that reminded him of his grandfather's wines. Only the best was good enough: old vines, top position, traditional ripening period of two years in the foot and another on the bottle.
The grandfather would be proud: an exceptionally fine Riesling has emerged, with seductive melt and high density. Very complex, ripe aromas; the acid is fully integrated into the powerful body. Large storage potential, but already accessible.
Erni has raised a classic here: awesome!
Still a little bit shy, but the bouquet of mango and papaya expands with each swirl of the glass. Very rich and deep with a stunning silkiness that’s very rare for dry Riesling. The first vintage of Ernst Loosen’s new top dry wine from this site that matures for 24 months on the gross lees in barrel.
