The winery was founded in 1988 by D. Jose Mª Vegas Arranz based on the idea of making quality wines for everybody. It was during the same year when our winery in Santiuste de San Juan Bautista (Segovia) was built. In 2000 we made one more step that we believe helped us to improve our quality. We plant 120 hecatres: 80% Verdejo and 20% Sauvignon Blanc. Jose Maria Vegas was a true pioneer in the region of Rueda and was one of the first to see the potential of a white wine region in Spain. At that time most of Spain was focused on Red wine regions like Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Red wine regions were making wines with more marketability and were seen as more prestigious. Jose Maria Vegas started on his own, studied oenology and step by step started to invest in vineyards. Today he owns the third largest winery in Rueda and offers excellent quality year after year.
A delicious, dry white blend from Verdejo and Viura grapes, with vivid flavors of citrus and peach, this wine makes a mouthwateringly delicious aperitif or a perfect accompaniment to a wide range of tapas, cheeses and seafood dishes. A great follow up to their 2007 vintage, which Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar described as: "Light yellow. Spicy, mineral-dominated aromas of lemon zest, peach pit and green banana, with a tangy, chalky undercurrent. Racy and firm, with juicy citrus flavors and slow-building salty minerality. Crisp, refreshing and a steal.
