Opaque violet color. Earthy aromas and flavors of minerals, nuts, berries, and green pepper with a supple, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a sleek, interesting, medium-long herbed berries and tomatoes and cedar mulch and bark finish with woody, firm tannins and moderate oak. A firm, dry, oak accented Sangiovese led blend that will improve with time.
After a careful selection of Sangiovese grapes and prudent use of barrique aging to enhance the best characteristics of the Tuscan Sangiovese, an elegant wine has been crafted with great harmony and structure, soft textured and velvety, with a balanced palate. It is produced from grapes of the Paretaio vineyard in San Gimignano with 95% Sangiovese and 5% Merlot selected during the harvest. After a 12 month stay in 225 litre barriques, it spends 12 more months in bottle before release. This is classic Sangiovese: animal, leather and tobacco on the nose, with elegant mouth-filling cherry through the palate. A late note of licorice continues through the finish. The Merlot adds roundness to the palate and deepens the cherry core. This is a classic, subtle wine that should appeal to those who enjoy quality Chianti and Vino Nobile.
