The vineyards are situated around the town of Ortona, on the Adriatic coast of the Abruzzo region. Facing west and south west, vines are planted on calcareous clay soils of a medium texture and trained on a pergola system.
In general, rain, or the lack of it, was a crucial factor in the 2013 vintage. Cool, wet conditions in the spring set up a challenging growing season. Drought-like conditions then caused a further challenge in the summer, but fortunately, autumn was wonderful, allowing for a great, if somewhat delayed, harvest in mid September. The whites from this vintage are excellent with moderate sugar levels and good acidity.
Once the grapes were received at the winery, they were gently crushed and destemmed. After pressing, fermentation took place in stainless steel at 12°C in order to preserve the character of the fruit. The wine was then fined and filtered before bottling.
Deep, bright, straw yellow in colour. The nose has intense, fruit and floral characters with aromas of medlar, peach and orange blossom. On the palate, it is medium bodied, well-balanced and intense with a persistent finish.
Lively and intense straw yellow color; the nose is quite intense and persistent, fruity with notes of peach and medlar and floral notes of white flowers, orange and lemon blossoms. Well balanced, with good structure and length. Pairs well with light first courses, white meats, and fresh cheeses. Excellent with fish.
