Here the nose offers up a genuinely lovely array of both white and yellow orchard fruit aromas as well as spice, citrus blossom and discreet tea notes. There is excellent richness and vibrancy to the suave, round and seductively textured flavors that possess superior depth, balance and length. This relatively robust and potentially outstanding effort will require 6 to 8 years of cellar time to arrive at its apogee.
Pale yellow. Ripe mirabelle aroma is a bit less pristine than that of the Perrieres (Carillon notes that this wine seems more accessible today than the Perrieres but will likely shut down in bottle soon). Sweet and chewy in the mouth, with a deceptively open-knit lemon cream quality partly hiding sound underlying acidity. This nicely concentrated, sweet but slightly disjointed wine will need a few years to harmonize in bottle.
