Giesen Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2016
An aromatic blend of elderflower, kaffir lime leaf, pink grapefruit and dried herb. This wine has vibrant citrus and concentrated fruit on the palate, finishing crisp and bright.
Over the last decade, I have enjoyed a lot of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. Out of the many countries where this grape variety is readily grown—including France, Spain, Chile, South Africa, Italy, and the USA—New Zealand has been one of my favorite choices. The 2016 Giesen is truly excellent. This wine excels in purity of fruit. It is loaded with grapefruit peel, dried herbs, and a pleasing bouquet of flowers, and is one of the best examples in the marketplace. Pair with linguine and mussels in a garlic white wine reduction sauce, and you will understand why I feel this way.
