This wine was harvested from vineyards in Napa Valley between October 4 and October 15, 2013. The vineyards used were located in the St. Helena, Rutherford, Oakville, and Spring Mountain AVAs, and were all selectively hand-harvested.
The 2013 vintage has been heralded as one of the best in Napa Valley history, and this wine seems entirely consistent with that assessment.
On the nose, lovely notes of fully ripe cherries and cranberries, raspberries still on the vine, fresh sweet earth and a touch of sweet pipe tobacco rise from the glass. Dark, savory hillside-fruit notes add depth and complexity.
On the palate, the black cherry notes dominate the entry, introducing a solid core at the mid-palate with plenty of grip. Crisp fresh fruit flavors and a bright acidity linger through a surprisingly silky finish.
