The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet has a vibrant, citrus-driven bouquet with tangible wet limestone and flinty notes emerging with time. The palate is just superb: beautifully balanced with very well judged acidity, fanning out gradually in the mouth with a gorgeous, saline finish that leaves you wanting another sip.
Bright pale gold, sappy sweetness, very silky-smooth, a feeling of a very pure brightness on top of quite a lot of volume. A bit of saline, and long with lively balance. Very pale yellow. Aromas of apple and toasty lees. In a polite style but with good density and attractive lemony cut. The slowly mounting finish throws off notes of lemon, grapefruit and blood orange.
