The acclaim Jackson Estate Pinot Noir generates is based entirely on the merit of our mature, cool climate vineyards. This wine is an expression of our beloved Pinot Noir. It is idiosyncratically New Zealand in style: true to vineyard, region and variety. This wine is named for our families, often forgotten at vintage whilst we strive to make the perfect bottle of Pinot Noir.
This wine is vintage 2013 of the Pinot Noir grape variety harvested from the Marlborough region. Styled as a light red wine, it is bright red in colour and has an alcohol level of 13.5%. This is a generous and delicious wine, sweet-fruited and supple with an impressive concentration of black and red forest fruit aromas integrated with dried herbs and spicy cedar notes. In the background are repressed hints of youthful oak. The flavour profile is rich with luscious fruits and does not lose its trademark Pinot Noir characteristics. The tannins are moderate, leaving a lengthy, oaky and dry finish. Further cellaring will add more depth and complexity to this great wine. Because of its medium acidity, complexity and rich fruit character, this smooth and easy-to-drink wine is best paired with Beef Wellington, braised duck, rare roast beef, oven-baked salmon fillets, and garlic-roasted tenderloins.
