Although 2013 is only Kenwood Vineyards’ fifth vintage of Pinot Gris, it has already received many accolades, winning three best of class awards and one best of show white sweepstakes award. This year’s offering upholds this tradition by exhibiting the fruity/almond blossom aroma and the fresh taste Pinot Gris is famous for. Pinot Gris excels in the cool climate of Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley.
Harvested on a cool morning in early October, the grapes were swiftly brought to the winery to be pressed. After settling, the juice was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to showcase the natural acidity and fruit flavor of the wine. The resulting bottle is well-balanced with excellent flavor and a long finish. The subtle fruit character and acidity of Pinot Grismake it an excellent aperitif, or as an accompanimentto a variety of dishes. Try pairing it with fruit orvegetable courses, fresh fish or savory roasted poultrydishes.
