On the nose, the wine is rich with molasses, cherry, spearmint, black tea, cranberry, and plum. The palate features notes of gingerbread spice, red raspberry, and grilled mushroom with a lengthy finish of mocha, black tea, and forest floor.
The 2014 Overlook Pinot Noir will pair beautifully with roasted Chinese Five Spice duck breast, glazed with plum sauce or farro with braised chanterelle mushrooms.
This excellent Pinot is a blend of vineyard sites in (53%) Sonoma County, (39%) Monterey County, (8%) San Benito County. This wine begins with aromas of black plum, cherry cola and black raspberry. There are flavors of spicebox, red cherry, guava puree, cherry cola and boysenberry accents. Kudos to Landmark head winemaker, Greg Stach, as this is a very solid effort that exemplifies fruity, yet balanced Sonoma Pinot.
