This is a Gin produced by Nikka Whisky, integrating its decades of experience in distilling white spirits and blending whiskies. All of the base distillate comes through the "Coffey Still", a traditional continuous still which produces Nikka's signature grain whiskies, giving this gin a silky texture and rich body. Its aromatic complexity relies on the delicate balance of various botanicals including Japanese citrus such as Yuzu, Kabosu and Amanatsu. There is also a touch of apples, a fruit deeply related to the history of Nikka, followed by pleasantly tangy hints of Japanese Sansho pepper on the finish.
While Nikka is better known for its incredible range of whiskies, it has also been making vodka and gin for the Japanese market for years. Finally, it has produced a new gin for the rest of the world – Nikka Coffey Gin.
Made using rich and mellow spirit produced in the company's signature Coffey stills, the gin is packed with fruity flavour thanks to a recipe that includes exotic citrus fruits: yuzu, kabosu, amanatsu and shikuwasa. The citrus is balanced against tangy apples and spicy sansho pepper, giving the gin a Japanese twist.
Creamy lemon with a subtle oily element developing, soon joined by almost tropical fruit sweetness. This is well-balanced by peppercorn, pine and fennel.
