Kith & Kin, Old English for “Friends & Family”, is a Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from all corners of the Napa Valley but with its heart rooted in Rutherford. This wine is approachable in its youth, with balanced tannins and a fruit forward character. The vast majority of fruit comes from our estate, supplemented by a limited amount from Napa Valley growers.
tasting notes This crowd pleaser intrigues the senses with aromatics of vanilla, ripe black cherry, and cassis, layered with earthier notes of cedar and violet. This wine maintains its focus with nicely integrated tannins that deliver explosive avors of blackberry jam and dried cranberries, mingled with pleasing undertones of leather and sweet French oak. The harmonious nish lingers with a kiss of oral essence balanced with an exciting menagerie of dried savory spices.
vintage & viticulture Although bud break in Napa Valley was early in 2016, it was an all-around cooler growing season. Without the normal heat spikes in July and August, the fruit was able to hang longer on the vine and ripen more uniformly, helping concentrate avors. Touted as another stellar vintage from the Napa Valley, our 2016 Kith & Kin Cabernet Sauvignon was hand harvested in early October, the resulting wine had explosive avors, great balance, and ripe, granular tannins that don’t bite.
