Wine Enthusiast 91 points - Muted aromatically at first, pushing to impart rose, sage and violet, this red offers an edginess of tobacco leaf and peppery meat. Structured acidity provides appreciated support and a contrast to medium-sized tannin..Virginie Boone, February/2017
Wine & Spirits 91 points - Christophe Paubert sources most of the fruit for this wine from the Garvey Vineyard, blending it with other vineyards in Coombsville. That fruit from the cool, southern end of the Napa Valley maintained its freshness even as it developed plenty of intensity in 2013. The wine feels saturated with fruit and mineral-rich tannins, the initial oakiness of the aroma giving way to sweet cherry scents. Smoky and powerful, this is a wine to decant; open it over the next several years to serve with steak. (508 cases).February/2017
eRobertParker.com 90 points - The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa (86% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Malbec, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot) was aged 20 months in French oak, of which 37% was new. This is a structured, tannic, rather austere style of wine that mimics a fine Bordeaux. It is deep ruby/purple and offers notes of graphite, black and red currants, licorice and tobacco leaf. It is medium-bodied, structured, and best cellared for several years and drunk over the following 15 years. 90+ Points.Robert Parker, March/2016
James Suckling 94 points - A wine with purity and definition. Ultra-fine tannins hold together a red with subtle berry, walnut, forest floor and mushroom character. Very fine indeed. Better in 2020 but so beautiful now..May/2016
Cabernet has always been a mainstay in the winemaking program at Stags’ Leap Winery. Our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a combination of estate fruit and grapes from select Napa Valley growers. Much of the estate vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon where deep, well-drained, loamy volcanic soils make this a perfect place to grow Cabernet.
