Wine Spectator 94 points - Precise balance sets the stage for cherry, black currant, violet and tobacco flavors in this smooth, intense red. The tannins are present yet well-integrated, and this persists with echoes of fruit and tobacco. Reveals an element of spice on the aftertaste. Best from 2020 through 2035. 5,355 cases made. -BS.June/2017
Vinous 91+ points - Dark bright red-ruby. Deep, complex aromas of red cherry, licorice, graphite and fresh herbs, lifted by a note of white pepper with riper hints coffee and blackberry jam. The flavors are similar to the aromas and have a strong mineral tang that dissipates with aeration. Offers excellent energy and verve and youthfully chewy tannins that will require patience. This is a rare Tenuta Nuova that actually reminds me of Cerretalto, with its darker than usual frut aromas and flavors and hints of graphite. Be aware, that like Casanova di neri’s 2012 classico Brunello, this also benefits greatly from four to five hours in the glass..Ian DAgata, March/2017
Wine Advocate 96 points - This edition of Casanova di Neri’s celebrated single-vineyard wine opens to a luminous garnet color and exuberant fruit aromas. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova offers a lot to the bouquet, from sweet cherry aromas to savory tones of tobacco and leather. This wine shows a powerful inner motor of flavor concentration and density that propels it forward. All that density and richness wraps thickly over the palate. This is a lasting wine of brawn and muscle..February/2018
James Suckling 96 points - TOP 100 WINES OF 2017 #73 - Lots of spice, balsamic and ripe-fruit character to this one. Walnut undertones. Full to medium body, a compressed structure of ripe tannins and packed-in fruit. Vibrant finish. Best in 2019..December/2017
The Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova came about thanks to the desire to produce a Brunello of great character. We began by searching for land which we believe to be in the best position. The microclimate of the terrain includes the botanical species lentiscus, ilatro, thyme, fillera, marruca, and a type of juniper which demonstrate the exceptional quality of the vineyards of Pietrodonice and Le Cetine. This passionate search together with highly scientific methods in determining the clones, the grafting, the type of cultivation, the density per hectare of the vines and every other minor detail have taken place to obtain excellent Sangiovese grapes. It is aged in small oak casks for 24 to 30 months according to the vintage and then for at least a year in the bottle. The first vintage produced was in 1993. Born of vineyards with unique characteristics that produce Sangiovese grapes and give a wine of great distinction and unique structure, potency and fineness. Captivating and complex in its fragrances, profound in its width yet able to express in delightful flavours, in the style of our estate. It lends itself to a lengthy evolution through the years but also drunk young it will give great satisfaction. Ever since its first harvest in 1993 it has had constant amazing recognition from the world press.
