Black Opal established in 1986, comes from a place of untamed territories and unspoiled land. This is Australia. The land they call "Oz". The land down under. Brimming with life, Australia is a dreamland rich in culture, diversity and natural history. This is apparent in the crystal blue skies above, in the red landscape, even the glistening opal, and a gem that dates back 60 million years. Among Australia's magnificent opals, one glows even brighter - the black opal. Like their namesake, Black Opal wines are purely Australian, offering up the glowing mystique that is Australia. Tap the truly Australian Black Opal wines and discover the mystery. The Black Opal wines are sourced from vineyards found in South Australia along the Limestone Coast, at Langhorne Creek and in the infamous Barossa Valley.

The rich varietal blackcurrant, mint and spice noseis well supported by a palate that is full of fruit flavor, balanced by the subtle use of oak. The wine is warm in the mouth and the tannins are soft and well integrated.

The wine was matured with a combination of American and French oak. The Black Opal Cabernet is crimson in color, with some purple hues. Aromas of figs and cherry provide lovely lift on the nose. The palate shows some leafy complexity, yet is very even and persistent with some chalky, chewy tannins that adds flesh to the palate.
