To craft Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon, Jacob's Creek started with ripe, intense fruit from selected Coonawarra vineyards. First the Cabernet Sauvignon was matured in traditional oak barrels before being finished in aged Irish Whiskey barrels. This unique double-barrel technique adds smoothness and richness to the palate.
Surprisingly, slightly lighter colored than the shiraz, and the fruit is less fragrant on the bouquet; however, the palate makes up for that in no uncertain fashion, with cassis to the fore, and given complexity by touches of Coonawarra earth and herb; classy, integrated and balanced tannins add depth and length. Smooth and lush, elegant and smooth with toast and soft texture; aged in Irish whisky casks; subtle, smooth and complex; fleshy, dense and balanced.
Finishing Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon in Irish whiskey barrels has integrated the black fruit flavours and aromatic herbal notes, softened the tannins and, most noticeably, added real richness throughout the palate.
