Prelude Vineyards wines are made from fruit producing the most readily expressive wines, with the objective that they will drink well soon after release. Whilst still retaining ageing potential they impart typical Margaret River impact and character. The Prelude label celebrates Leeuwin’s association with the musical arts through the staging of the annual Leeuwin Concert Series.

Variety: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec
Alcohol: 13.5%
Cellaring Potential: 10-12 years

Tasting Notes

A concentrated and fragrant bouquet of ripe blackcurrants with a matrix of anise, cinnamon, clove and coffee bean. A youthful lift is highlighted by lavender, violets and bay leaf notes while a subtle earthiness of mushroom and cedar provides alluring complexity. A fruit spectrum of ripe currants and cassis fruit is complemented by notes of mocha, cedar and tobacco leaf creating a richly textured and complex palate. A fine line of natural acidity draws together all components, finishing with structural chalky tannins.
The bouquet shows great density, ripe concentrated blackcurrant, anise, black cardamom and lifted lavender with hints of black olives and plum aromas. The entry on the palate is soft and succulent whilst displaying a subtle texture with a black core of fruit including boysenberry, dark cherries and olive tapinade. The tannin and acid are seamlessly integrated from the front through to the long and lingering finish.
