A wine of great balance, combining fruit flavors and ripe fruits such as grapefruit and melon with notes of almond and honey which gives it a roundness and a beautiful finish.
Situated 125 miles south of Paris, the Sancerre landscape undulates at an altitude between 650 and 1,300 feet. The Loire River on the Eastern side of the hilly environment creates a relatively temperate microclimate for the wines. Le Grand Chemarin is a south facing hillside vineyard situated over the village of Bué. Jolivet owns 3 of the 74 acres representing Le Grand Chemarin. This wine is sourced from a small 1.2 acre parcel of the oldest vines within the domaine's holding. Limestone dominates the soils here.
Grapes are hand-picked and fermented with wild yeasts in large temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.
