The Lohsa estate, located in Maremma in southern Tuscany, was purchased in the late 1990’s and is Poliziano’s second largest holding. This 65 acre property is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon followed by Prugnolo Gentile, Ciliegiolo, Malvasia Nera and Canaiolo and supplies the grapes for Morellino di Scansano and Mandrone di Lohsa Rosso. All the fruit is hand-picked.
Wine maker notes
Grapes are grown on 9 hectares (22 acres) of vineyards planted at a density of 6,000 vines per hectare, 100 meters (328 feet) above sea level. The soil is mainly sandstone, with some skeletal components.
Food pairing
Enjoy with red meat, game, and mature cheeses.
