Tasting Notes

Color: Pale light yellow, brilliant. Aroma: Slightly reserved on attack with delicate fruitiness, gentle peach stone, citrus, Passion fruit, herbs and physalis. Palate: Very mineral and wonderful pure on palate, with long lingering flavors and soft acidity. Well balanced and integrated.

Wine maker Notes

Vinification: The grapes are carefully destemmed and softly crushed. The must ferments in wooden barrel of 1200 lt. Aging: After fermentation, the wine settles on the lees for six months.

A wisp of smoke lends a sultry tone to fresh pear in this dry, supple wine. It’s ripe and rich on the palate, but maintains the lean, steely acidity ubiquitous to this vintage. Finishes long with rolling mineral notes.

The intense yellow 2014 Schloss Johannisberger Silberlack Riesling GG offers an attractively cool and distinguished bouquet of ripe peaches and tropical fruit aromas intermixed with flinty and earthy flavors and a touch of oak (100% fermented in 1200 l Stuckfasser). The palate is very round, fruit intense and elegant with lovely piquant notes that lead to a salty finish with a very good length and citrus flavors in the spicy aftertaste. Again this is a very noble and aristocratic, at the same time stimulating, Riesling that can be enjoyed for far more than a decade.

This powerful version is loaded with minerally notes, accenting the mix of savory spice, green apple and dried apricot flavors. Rich smoky details show on the firm finish.
